The certification process will normally follow three steps:
In the pre-assessment we will identify the relevant requirements for your product set by the ATEX-directive and applicable harmonized standards to allow for certification at a later stage. We will provide a list of the relevant requirements, including requirements for testing, enabling you to get an overview of the cost and time schedule connected with the certification process.
For requests for pre-assessment, please contact us.
Gexcon Certification as a Notified Body will assess the equipment and its documentation against the requirements in the ATEX Directive and applicable harmonised standards. The result from the assessment will typically be one round of commenting on the documentation and a non- conformity list with reference to specific items needing to be corrected before a certificate can be issued.
To achieve ATEX-certification of a product, testing of equipment against international and/or European harmonized standards may be required. Gexcon Certification have extensive experience with the performance of explosion testing and can evaluate testing according to requirements in harmonized standards and the Directive. As part of the evaluation, test witnessing and site assessment can be performed at the manufacturer or external laboratory.
For certification application, requests or more information, please contact us.
When conformity of a product to the ATEX Product Directive is documented, Gexcon Certification can issue a certificate. Where a certificate is not required under the Directive, Gexcon Certification can store the technical documentation for the equipment and issue a receipt for this to the manufacturer. When approved, equipment will be marked with the ex-symbol followed by the equipment-group and category.
